With a full-fledged Franchise mode to keep you busy season after season, the highly customizable, retro-inspired Legend Bowl will launch on PS5 and PS4 on August 9. The gameplay, which is unmistakably influenced by the legendary Tecmo Bowl series, may have a retro pixel art aesthetic, but it’s supported by real physics, so you can actually feel the force of each hit and fumble.
While local multiplayer and pick-up and start games head-to-head modes will both be available, the Franchise mode is what promises to keep lone players busy. The press release states, “Choose one of the 32 special teams to champion, and then take them through consecutive, complete, 17-week schedules.”
Manage your stadium’s amenities, your teams’ rosters, and the needs of your players while enduring the grilling from the press via the news wire. Additionally, there is a full offseason where you can guide your team through player development, free agency, retirements, and a full seven-round draught.
You will be able to change player names, style, and other aspects of the game. Even the weather is dynamically described in the title: “Whether it’s clear, cloudy, raining, or snowing, you’ll have to brave it all.” You’re transported into the stadium by on-field stat overlays, half – time stats, final stats, field art, live referees, the chain gang, mascots, advertisements and more.
