The first season of Diablo 4’s has been announced, and it will begin on July 20. Players will battle malignant monsters created by Lillith’s corruption in a new post-campaign quest line called Season of the Malignant.
A brief, appropriately eldritch trailer was unveiled as part of a developer live stream, and we discovered more about the game’s seasonal structure.
With the assistance of Cormond, a former priest from the Cathedral of the Light, players in Season of the Malignant will look into the mysterious illness afflicting the residents of Sanctuary. You will learn how to gather Malignant Hearts and transform them into magical build-altering powers from Cormond, who is skilled in a variety of illegal activities.
These Malignant Hearts, of which there are 32 in total across four categories, can be inserted into unique Infested sockets in jewellery, granting access to a range of potent new abilities. Players can hunt down all of them in the recently released Malignant Tunnels, replayable Dungeons that contain a new boss named Varshan the Consumed and are filled with terrifying enemies.
