Sea of Stars has held a prominent position on our list of the most eagerly awaited PlayStation Indies for what seems like an eternity due to the possibility of obtaining trophies. Imagine our joy when Sony announced that Sea of Stars would be available on PS Plus Extra on launch day.

Sea of Stars will formally join PS Plus Extra on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, as announced on the PlayStation Blog. Additionally, the Sea of Stars demo has been made available on the PS Store for both the PS5 and PS4 as an added gift for all of us anxious players.

That means you may start playing today for free for getting a feel for this 2D action RPG.

Watch the trailer for Sea of Stars if you haven’t already (it’s up there). It’s a turn-based RPG that heavily emulates Chrono Trigger, one of the best RPGs of all time. The connection between the two games is so clear that Yasunori Mitsuda, the chief composer of Chrono Trigger, has contributed to the game’s soundtrack as a guest artist.

That feeling combined with the stunning modern sprite art makes it crystal clear why we were eager to play Sea of Stars when it first released.

The indie gem’s release on PS Plus Extra in August 2023 is just the cherry on top of a lovely cake, though. So long as the Sea of Stars is still included in the Game Catalog, all PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium users will be able to play it and even get platinum.
