The growth of Esports in India has been nothing short of amazing. With each passing year, the segment has risen by leaps and bounds, with demand for online games reaching new heights. Many factors have led to the segment’s growth, the most important of which being increased internet access, an increase in the number of smartphones, and the availability of affordable gaming devices in the country.
Philips India’s Strategic Step into Indian Esports
With such a magnitude of growth, the Indian esports industry has attracted global brands and international organizations to invest and enter the industry. A new foreign brand has expanded its operations into the Indian BGMI community through the Netherlands-based company, Philips.
Philips India has announced a partnership with BGMI E-Sports, as well as the signing of its BGMI E-Sports squad, dubbed ‘OneBlade’. This collaboration is a strategic step forward in Philips’ push into the gaming sector, reinforcing the company’s commitment to addressing the GenZ audience.
R Esports Joins Forces with Philips
The return of Battlegrounds Mobile India after a 10-month-long suspension has rejoiced its fans. Tournament organizers and developers have been conducting multiple events. Some TOs had to postpone their IPs because of the heavily tight schedule and the game’s restriction of 6 hours of playtime. With such numerous tournaments, esports organizations are announcing their rosters back into the game.
R Esports will represent Philips team OneBlade brand during their participation in BGMI tournaments, featuring the brand’s logo and carrying the tagline, ‘Move Fearlessly’. The phrase symbolizes the team’s playstyle in the competitive BGMI E-Sports events and Philips OneBlade’s commitment to providing a No Nicks, No Cuts grooming experience.
The Skilled Players of Team OneBlade
The team consists of the following players:
- Abhinav Kumar
- Harshit Kashyap
- Dev Sapra
- Badal Kumar Behara
- Almaz Rahman
- Akhand Pratap Singh
Philips OneBlade’s entry into the gaming market comes on the heels of its successful partnership as the styling partner for the NODWIN Valorant Challengers: South Asia Split 2 tournament.
Team ‘OneBlade’ is comprised of skilled players from the R Esports team, which frequently places among the top 16 teams in BGMI across major competitions, and is ready to make a lasting mark in the gaming world. The team has extensive experience competing against India’s greatest teams in a variety of tournaments, and it has also reached the finals of the BGIS 2021 and BGMI Showdown 2022.
Philips OneBlade’s Commitment to BGMI Esports
From 1 July through 1 October 2023, the squad will compete under the Philips OneBlade brand, participating in prestigious BGMI tournaments. The team had finished bottom of the standings due to a series of errors in several tournaments, although they made it to the finals. With the new signing, we wish the team all the best for upcoming events.
Philips India has now entered Indian Esports as sponsors of R-Esports’ BGMI roster. The brand announced its own BGMI Esports team titled OneBlade, on July 4th, 2023. This was on the occasion of their latest product launch, the Philips OneBlade QP1424.
Speaking about the collaboration, Deepali Agarwal, Head of Personal Health at Philips Indian Subcontinent said, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of our gaming team, ‘OneBlade,’ for BGMI E-Sports. Building on our successful alliance for the launch of Philips OneBlade QP1424, we aim to cater to the grooming needs of the GenZ gamers with an enhanced product experience enabling them to ‘Move Fearlessly’.
